The Homefront Hustle Training Timeline Revealed!

Two months ago, I launched Homefront Hustle. Homefront Hustle is a 13-week, one-on-one mentorship program designed to help military spouses, veterans, and caregivers launch their own virtual assistant or consulting business. Inspired by my own journey as a Navy spouse of 23 years, I created this program to offer hope and practical tools. Like many in our community, I faced unemployment. Blue Star Families, Military Family Lifestyle Survey reports a 23% unemployment rate in 2024, and that is not acceptable!  Homefront Hustle is my way to empower others to build a flexible career from home. Ready to dive in? Let me take you through the timeline and show you how this program can transform your entrepreneurial dreams.

Homefront Hustle starts with a free introductory meeting to align your goals, then dives into 12 weeks of practical training. I do ask that anyone interested please complete a short form before we have the introductory meeting to share your goals and commitment. The reason for this is so I can ensure that we understand and meet realistic goals as well as track progress as we work through each week. Additionally, I adjust and tailor the course based on experience. A couple of courses below specifically share some AI tips. We will talk about how to leverage AI tools to enhance your business tasks, from brainstorming ideas to optimizing tasks. Specific AI tips will be integrated where they naturally fit to support the week’s goal.

Class 0: Introductory Meeting (FREE)

  • Goal: Kick off your journey and align expectations.
  • Summary: Discuss your goals vs. the 12-class plan, set your VA or consulting path, and confirm commitment after completing the pre-meeting form.

Now that we have set the stage with the free intro, let’s move into the core training. This is where magic happens–building the foundation for your business step by step. Imagine gaining confidence to manage clients and finances like a pro. What could that mean for your future? Let’s explore.

Class 1: Business Basics

  • Goal: Lay the groundwork for starting a business.
  • Summary: Review the Steps to Start Guide (provided document); discuss business entity types (e.g., LLC, sole proprietor) with potential homework; cover insurance and bank account setup (possible homework); introduce business credit/debit card options.

Transitioning from basics to professionalism, the next class helps you present yourself as a polished expert. Have you ever wondered how small changes in your setup can make a big difference with clients? This class will show you.

Building on professional standards, we dive into the heart of client relationships. How do you keep clients happy and coming back? This class equips you with the tools to master those interactions.

Class 3: Client Communication & Relationship Management

  • Goal: Master client interactions for retention and satisfaction.
  • Summary: Teach effective communication techniques (email tone, response time, follow-ups); set up Gmail or Outlook for client management; discuss handling difficult clients and setting boundaries; create a feedback survey to improve/adjust performance based on client needs (Asana can temporarily serve as CRM until Class 6).
  • AI Tip: Use AI to craft email templates for client follow-ups, e.g., “Draft a polite follow-up email for a client who hasn’t responded in 48 hours, maintaining professional tone.”

With clients in mind, it’s time to formalize your business. What if you could launch confidently with the right pricing and tools? The following class makes that possible.

Class 4: Business Launch

  • Summary: Provide a sample contract template; guide setup of DocuSign (with SOP); introduce Clockify for time tracking/invoicing (with SOP); discuss basic pricing models (e.g., hourly, project-based) to establish a starting price tied to time tracking.

Once launched, how do you find those first clients? This class turns marketing into an exciting hunt—imagine building your network with strategies tailored to your military community.

  • Goal: Teach strategies to attract clients.
  • Summary: Cover social media use (posts, articles); networking with personal/military communities; revisit Steps to Start Guide resources; explore local military base opportunities and podcasts.
